If your family plans on spending time in Princeton NJ this fall, it's helpful to know what activities are worth pursuing. Traveling with children is an adventure, so you must have a plan to follow. This way, you can accommodate meal times and nap times while making sure everyone has a blast.

Below you'll find seven family-friendly activities to do in Princeton NJ this fall season.

1. Pick Fresh Produce at Terhune Orchards

Terhune Orchards is a family owned farm where you can pick your own fruits and vegetables. And what better time of year to pick fresh produce than the fall! Apples, corn, cucumbers, pumpkins and spinach are all in season. Don't forget to stop by the Farm Store for baked goods and apple cider donuts.

2. Attend a Princeton Football Game

Princeton is stunning during the fall season. You can walk the campus and enjoy the beautiful red, orange and yellow leaves. Don't forget to stop by the Fountain of Freedom, too! While you're visiting, attend a Princeton football game. Tickets are just $15 for adults and $12 for children ($20/$15 at the gate).

3. Have a Picnic Lunch with La Rosa Chicken

La Rosa Chicken and Grill makes it easy to have a delicious picnic lunch. Pick your favorite picnic spot and share an assortment of sides and freshly grilled chicken. Our family packs make it easy to serve a complete, balanced meal to the whole family.

4. Kayak Down Carnegie Lake

Enjoy a scenic view on Carnegie Lake, which runs along the Delaware and Raritan Canals. Kayaks are available to rent through November. Kids 4 to 7 years old will do fine sitting, and once they turn 8, most can help with the paddling.

5. Attend a Fall Festival

Princeton has plenty of fall festivals and fairs for the entire family to enjoy, including the Apple Days Fall Harvest Festival at Terhune Orchards. Pick pumpkins, find your way through corn mazes, let the kids ride ponies and listen to live music.

6. Play at Marquand Park and Arboretum

Marquand Park and Arboretum is a 17-acre historic preserve of trees and woodlands. On October 16th, the park celebrates OAKtober for a celebration of the oak. Enjoy free oak saplings, an oak scavenger hunt, cookies and cider. Or have a picnic lunch under the giant shady ginkgo trees.

7. Visit Princeton Shopping Center

While known for its shopping and dining, Princeton Shopping Center is also a hot spot for fall festivals, outdoor concerts and parades. Start the season off right by attending the Fall Fun Fest in October and wear your favorite costume!
